Adoption
Colorado Canine Rescue’s (CCR) mission is to reduce the amount of dogs euthanized due to pet overpopulation by rescuing, fostering, and placing them in permanent, loving homes. CCR believes that this can be accomplished by providing proper education to adoptive families before, during, and after the adoption process. CCR is committed to long-term support of each rescued dog and adoptive family. The policies that CCR has developed are designed to ensure the success of each adoption. Our goal is to ensure that each dog and its adoptive family are the best possible match.

Upon adoption, each dog will be up-to-date on all vaccinations, spayed or neutered if of appropriate age and have a microchip identifier placed. We ask for a $100 donation to help cover our costs, but each animal can be considered on an individual basis.

Please review the Adoption Policy and complete the Adoption Contract and Adoption Application. Submit the Adoption Contract and Adoption Application via email or US mail. CCR will contact you for a short interview and home inspection. Please contact us with any questions. We look forward to working with you!

Adoption Policy
  • The primary applicant must be 18 years of age or older. Families with young children will be examined on a case by case basis, as not all dogs are reliable around children.
  • If renting your home, you must provide written permission from your landlord and his or her contact number.
  • CCR prefers all applicants to have a securely fenced yard, but if this is unavailable, appropriate accommodations must be made. Applicants without yards will be examined on a case by case basis.
  • All rescued dogs must have access to indoors as well as outdoors. CCR believes that our dogs should be involved in all aspects of a family’s life.
  • Adoptive families must provide adequate exercise and training for their rescued dog.
  • All dogs must be kept current on vaccinations and have regular veterinary check-ups.
  • Puppies will only be adopted to families with experience training young dogs, and who are willing to spend the extra time, money, and effort with them.
  • If adopting a puppy, they must be spayed or neutered when at an appropriate age, NO EXCEPTIONS
  • If your circumstances change and you are unable to keep your dog, you must return your dog to CCR so that he or she can be placed in a suitable home.
  • Adoptions out of area are permitted, but accommodations for the home inspection must be made. Transportation is not provided by CCR and costs are not covered in the adoption donation.
